DOJO COMPETITION TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Suntory Dojo Academy program 2021 (later referred to as Dojo Academy) and the Suntory Dojo Senpai program (later referred to as Dojo Senpai) will start on Monday 17th May 2021 and end at 23.59 on Friday 29th October 2021. Open to UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) residents aged 18 or over who have been signed up by an approved Edrington Beam Suntory UK Distribution Limited (later referred to as ‘EBS UK’ or ‘the Promoter’) employee in partnership with the venue in which the participant works. This excludes employees and their immediate families of the Promoter EBS UK, Beam Suntory International, its agencies or anyone else professionally connected with the promotion.

There are 3 prize places on a trip to the Japan (the “Suntory Japan Trip”) to be won, of which 2 spaces will be won by participants in the Dojo Senpai and 1 space will be won by a participant in the Dojo Academy.

 

Dojo Academy Winner

To be eligible to win the one place on the “Suntory Japan Trip”, Dojo Academy participants must have entered their details on suntorydojo.com and participated in all four Academy masterclasses (dates below). After the fourth masterclass, each participant will be invited to submit a ‘Kaizen Classic’ cocktail entry for consideration, with the top 6 entries as judged by James Bowker, House of Suntory Brand Ambassador, winning the opportunity to present their ‘Kaizen Classic’ Cocktail to the Bar Master judges in October 2021. The best of these 6 Kaizen Classic Cocktails as judged by the Bar Masters, will win the one Dojo Academy spot on the “Suntory Japan Trip”.

Winner selection will take place in the two weeks following the Challenge conclusion. The winners will be notified by the Promoter and in the event a claim for a prize is not received by the Promoter within 3 days of notification, the Promoter reserves the right, at its discretion, to withdraw prize entitlement and/or award the prize to the to the next best entrant. The Promoter’s decision on points scored and who has won is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Dates may be subject to change at the promoter’s discretion.

 

Academy Masterclass dates:

  2. Monday 19th July 2021
  3. Monday 23rd August 2021
  4. Tuesday 14th September 2021

 

Dojo Senpai Winners

To be eligible to win one of two Senpai places on the “Suntory Japan Trip”, Dojo Senpai participants will be required to participate in four monthly Kaizen Challenges in the masterclass series, gaining points out of 100 for each Challenge, as judged by James Bowker, House of Suntory Brand Ambassador. The members of the Dojo Senpai will also be asked to award each of their peers a score out of 100 in the final challenge, for the improvement in their Kaizen Classic and Japanese bartending technique – these scores will be collated into an average score out of 100, comprising the fifth Kaizen Challenge. The sixth and final Kaizen Challenge for the Dojo Senpai participants will be a written test of knowledge gained of Japanese bartending over the course of the Dojo Senpai program.

The two Senpai places on the “Suntory Japan Trip” will be awarded to: (Prize 1) The individual who scores the highest number of points across the six Kaizen Challenges (out of 600), and (Prize 2) The individual who scores the highest number of points from the judges in October 2021 for their Kaizen Classic cocktail.

Winner selection will take place in the two weeks following the Challenge conclusion. The winners will be notified by the Promoter and in the event a claim for a prize is not received by the Promoter within 3 days of notification, the Promoter reserves the right, at its discretion, to withdraw prize entitlement and/or award the prize to the next best entrant. The Promoter’s decision on points scored and who has won is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

FULL T’S & C’S

These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Entry instructions are deemed to form part of the terms and conditions and by entering this promotion all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the terms and conditions. Please retain a copy for your information.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The promotion is open to UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) residents aged 18 or over excluding employees and their immediate families of the Promoter EBS UK, Beam Suntory International, its agencies or anyone else professionally connected with the promotion. Participants will only be confirmed if approved by employing venue and EBS UK Account Manager.

 

PROMOTIONAL PERIOD

The initial registration period for the Suntory Dojo competition will be open from 09.00 Monday 11th April 2021 and will end at 23.59 on Friday 14th May 2021. The promotion will start on Monday 17th May 2021 at 23.59 and end at 23.59 on Friday 29th October 2021.

 

TO ENTER

Please register your venue and personal details at www.suntorydojo.com no later than 23.59 on Friday 14th May 2021. By registering you confirm that you have the permission of the owner or manager of the outlet to enter it into the promotion as well as a confirmed space on the program from your EBS UK Account Manager.

Following registration at www.suntorydojo.com up to 80 outlets will be confirmed to participate in Suntory Dojo Academy. The venues selected will be sent a confirmation email followed by 4 x masterclass experience kits, one each for the Suntory Dojo Masterclasses in June, July, August and September 2021 respectively.

If you have received approval to enter the Suntory Dojo Senpai you must sign up via your EBS UK Account Manager who will confirm via email to james.bowker@edrington-beamsuntoryuk.com your success in securing one of the 12 spaces available.

By entering the Dojo Academy or Dojo Senpai program, you are giving the Promoter permission to share your image and name on Suntory and partner business social media channels as part of of the Promotion. Participants are required to attend all four masterclasses in the Dojo Academy or Dojo Senpai program to be eligible to win a place on the “Suntory Japan Trip” and to have met the participation requirements of the Dojo Program.

 

THE PRIZES

Dojo Academy – 1 place on the prize “Suntory Japan Trip”

The trip will comprise a maximum of 7 days in Japan, including: travel to and from a UK airport, return flights to Japan, accommodation, subsistence, and internal travel within the set itinerary. All reasonable expenses will be covered by EBS at their discretion and any activates outside of the agreed itinerary or costs not deemed as a reasonable expense will be the responsibility of the prize winner to cover. Note experiences, distillery tours and other activities will also be available depending on COVID-19 and can be cancelled at the promoter’s discretion.

The trip will take place before the end of 30th July 2022, exact dates to be advised. The winners will fly from London and return to London. The Promoter will arrange at its cost travel from respective home (UK) addresses to and from the London airport selected by the Promoter. All correct valid visas and passports must be confirmed prior to travel by the participant. The prizes are non-transferable, must not be offered for resale, and rights to postpone the trip are reserved by the Promoter but cannot be amended by the winners.

 

Dojo Senpai – 2 places on the prize “Suntory Japan Trip”

After the fourth masterclass, each participant will be invited to submit a ‘Kaizen Classic’ cocktail entry for consideration, with the top 6 entries, as judged by James Bowker House of Suntory Brand Ambassador, winning the opportunity to present their ‘Kaizen Classic’ Cocktail to the Bar Master judges in October 2021. GENERAL

Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability, for any injury sustained, loss, or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; or any tax liability incurred by any participant.

The Promoter does not assume any responsibility, liability, loss, or damage sustained as a result of or in connection with this promotion: for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence due to error, omission, tampering, deletion, theft, and communications failure or otherwise; where there is no breach of any legal duty of care owed to the participant; where any loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of breach of any such duty of care; where any loss or damage or increase in loss or damage results from a breach by the participant of these terms and conditions or to the extent that the participant has failed to mitigate such loss or damage; and for business losses, and/or losses to non-consumers and any other third party.

The Promoter reserves the right to amend, alter or withdraw the promotion as necessary due to exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control and only where circumstances make this unavoidable and to substitute the prize with one of equivalent or greater value. The prize or its alternative must be accepted as offered. No cash alternative will be offered in whole or in part in connection with this promotion.

If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions or incorrect, illegible, fraudulent or other invalid or improper information has been provided, the Promoter may at its sole discretion refuse to award the prize to the winning entrant.

Your personal details will be used for the purposes of the administration of this promotion and delivery of the prizes only. Your personal details will at all times be kept confidential and in accordance with applicable and will not be kept after the promotion has ended. You can withdraw your consent at any time but will no longer be able to participate.

By participating in this promotion, individuals will be deemed to have read and understood these terms and conditions and be bound by them and by any other promotional material.

The full name and counties of the prize winners can be obtained from the Promoter. The winners agree to take part in reasonable publicity, at the option of the Promoter, with no further recompense.

By signing up to and participating in the Dojo Academy or Dojo Senpai participants agree to be included in any photography or video during the promotional period and agree the use of their name and image across all advertising is permitted until the end of the promotional period.

The Promoter is not liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation to the entrant that is caused by any circumstance beyond its reasonable control or by any act or omission of any third party although it will always use reasonable endeavours to minimise any entrant disappointment.

These terms and conditions are governed by the Laws of Scotland and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
